111109 : cattaneo charts morbo

hernan cattaneo has put morbo in his november top ten. morbo joins the daso & pawas remix of room 228 and ligne rouge in the select club of robsounds tracks to do this. i am double chuffed as i mastered morbo too. my friends at aciitone put a clip on their soundcloud page, so if you haven't heard it yet you can have a listen right now...

211009 : massive release week

so obviously i am still shit at website. however i have been busy nailing the last part of my uni course, which is a good excuse, no? anyway, in the meantime there's two things that you, as a visitor to robsounds.website, should know... firstly there's been a MASSIVE release week, with two new EPs and one remix of mine coming out. you can check them all at the usual places (ie beatport). first up was the ligne bleu ep, on aciitone blue, which has had some support from the likes of cattaneo, perc, and laurent garnier, and may well crisp your bacon too. second came scarlett on manual, which has a fantastic davis & may remix of the title track on there too. last but not least, my klangwelt labelmate kjofol released focus (on klangwelt) and that has a 909 hat attacking remix by myself. the other thing you should know is that i have started putting my mixes on soundcloud, which is handy as their widget lets you stream them from right here, well, the mixes page. which is pretty cool. i will be putting up more soon, i promise.

070809 : sea of retardation

sea of retardation is the new robsounds vinyl. it is a limited edition one-sided 10 inch record with just the one track, and is out now on herz ist trumpf records. actually it's been out a week and in the meantime it has hit number 1 spot for minimal house (even though it's not really either) on german online vinyl dispensery djshop.de! massive thanks to everyone who's bought a copy. for those without record players, it should be out on the usual download sites in a month or so.

050809 : beatport fail

beatport has dropped a couple of my old labels, the really nice acid milk guys, and audio invaders - shame because there's some good stuff on those two. however, all is not lost - junodownload still has the goodies, and juno's vinyl store still has a couple of copies of qf736 vinyl. because my grasp of mixing was a lot loser back then, the vinyl qf736 sounds a lot better (to my ears anyway), and it also looks cool - two great reasons to get a copy.

010809 : twitter

you can now follow robsounds on twitter if you so desire... twitter.com/ robsounds

010809 : update fail

regular visitors will have noticed that lack of updates, or rather the return to the normal lack of updates. this is mainly because i bought a new mac after using pc since forever, and i have only worked out how to do website on it.

020609 : high rollers ep

the high rollers ep came out on tidepool a couple of weeks ago, and has deep house live set favourite "fly tipping", really-quite-old-now-but-still-good "littlecaramelcakes" (as hammered by mr james holden around 3 years ago), and the comedown special "scatterdays". head over to Beatport for a listen.

also i found this quote by tim from stereolab: "I’m very happy to put lots of records out. From the very beginning of Stereolab, the idea has been to release as many records as possible. I want it to be hit and run. I don’t want to get bogged down with our own sense of history, what I want is a constant process of moving on. It’s always about the present – it’s not about the past, and it's not even about the future. It's about what I'm doing now." i wish i was that articulate about musical process, but yeh... i like the idea of being hit and run, of trying to get down all your thoughts and feelings rather than pissing about for years searching for perfection. because imperfections are what makes life interesting. the full interview is here.

170409 : new ep

my new ep "before you let it fall" is out now on aciitone blue, and has had massive props from a host of djs including laurent garnier, perc, and patrice baumel. you can check it out now on Beatport.

270309 : more website updates

the productions page has been sorted out into releases, with little images of the cover of each, and most importantly there are now clips up of most but not all unfortunately of them. get involved! there will be some more mixes up soon too.

160309 : some news

the good news is that there are lots of robsounds tracks ready to drop in 2009. awesome! i'm not sure which one will come first yet as this is going to be down to record company schedules - what's likely to happen is that none will come since october and then 6 will come at once - insert your own joke about public transport here. as our trains are run by connex i guess that would equate to releases being months late without any sort of anouncement as to when they are about to arrive, sounds familiar eh. i can tell you now that one of the releases will be an ep on tidepool featuring the wonderfully deep fly tipping, which i wrote about the same time as i did the original v5 of this website, which is pretty much when it was last updated. also onboard are the supported-by-james-holden "littlecaramelcakes" and the dopecore breaks of "scatterdays". more to come when i have more info...

140309 : i am rubbish at website

ok so it's almost a year since this was updated, apologies to anyone who has been pressing f5 for that whole time hoping for something interesting, or even something new, to appear. i have been rubbish at website. i have been rubbish at myspace too but have generally been keeping things ticking over there. my ftp program scares me, that's why nothing has happened here for a long while. anyway i have done a bit of a tweak to the site so hopefully it should be slightly better, tho obv it would be a lot better either way if i posted news. so there will be some news soon. honest.

170408 : remix-a-go-go

here in australia it's starting to head towards winter, and consequently i've got a cold. on the plus side, i've been working on some remixes that should be released later this european summer - for top irish label aciitone, germany's orbiter music, and my swiss friends over at acid milk.

190308 : room 228

room 228, my newest track on audio invaders, has just been released, backed with an amazing remix from daso and pawas. the daso and pawas remix has been doing some damage in the beatport tech-house charts, as well as being supported by big players like hernan cattaneo (who featured it on a couple of his kiss mixes back in august last year), radioslave, abyss, and tresor resident dave k. check it out now on beatport and all other good download stores.

060308 : it's 2008

it's 2008 - time for an update. since the last news, i have had the "frogs" ep and "sticky tape" released on acid milk recordings, and "this is not a love song" on manual digital, as well as my remix of "ice cream for kenton" coming out on perc trax in september. there's exciting stuff coming soon too, possibly including more regular updates that might make this look like a website rather than a discography.

160707 live!

in case anyone who is reading this is in switzerland this weekend, i will be playing live at the paradox club in neuchatel on fri 20th, and doing another live set at vr-records on sat 21st. it's my first overseas tour so it's all very exciting.

140707 : QF736

has been out for a month now on download, i am a bit late updating my site. it's my first vinyl too, and even this has been out now for a couple of weeks. thanks to everyone who has supported the release so far. anyway, qf736 is backed with a wonderful remix by ripperton and green one has been given a complete renovation by undo, so those are especially worth checking out.

210507 : seven months

"7 Months" is a 3 track EP from Robsounds that has received massive support for its shifting styles and is reminiscent of early Warp records. Support from Grid System, Max Cagliero, Armin Van Buren and more - that's what they said anyway, make up your own mind at beatport and juno download, among others.

070507 green three

the first part of my green trilogy to see the light of day is "green three", which is out now on acid milk recordings. it's paired up with "rainy summer morning" which is about right for now too, as it's raining and it's the morning. you can listen at beatport and juno download.

hello

version 5 of robsounds online is go! as is the way of things these days, there's been restructuring and streamlining, but for once this means that everything works better rather than it just costing less.
